The EGS is a standard manual type gearbox with sliding mesh synchromesh gears. Onto this is bolted a changing system which moves the selectors. The clutch is a standard friction clutch, although with a dual mass flywheel. It is operated by servo like the gearbox. A standard auto gearbox is a completely different type.
